Seven free apps every business owner needs

When you’re running a business, there’s never-ending ‘to do lists’ and loads to think about it. Time is precious, and it isn’t always easy. We’ve put together a list of our favourite apps for business owners to help stay on top of it all.

1Password

As a business owner, it’s easy to quickly rack up a bunch of online accounts. It’s not so easy to keep track of your passwords! The 1Password app ensures safe keeping of your passwords, using a master password.

Expensify

Keeping track of expenses is hard enough, let alone when you’re on the road. With the Expensify app, you can record your mileage and expenses by uploading receipts and submitting expense reports from anywhere.

Evernote

There’s a lot to remember when you’re a business owner! Evernote lets you store, organise and share anything from text to voice notes to stay organised and remember all those lightbulb moments. It auto-syncs with other devices so nothing gets missed.

Slack

An instant messaging platform designed for business, you can organise your team conversations into private or public channels. You can quickly drag and drop to share images, PDFs an other files into the chat. Everything is archived, so you can always go back to access it.

Asana

Available on both browser and mobile app, Asana lets you create and view tasks and projects. Teams can share notes, upload files and communicate directly in the app to reduce the need for emails. It even syncs with Slack messaging to communicate updates.

Polaris Office

Regardless of all this fancy new software, most business can’t avoid good old Microsoft Office and Excel. An alternative to Apple’s iWork, Polaris lets you edit and create Microsoft Office files, and view PDF files, all on your smartphone or tablet.

Square

Ever been out and about talking to a potential customer but with no way to accept payment? Square POS app lets you take credit card payments on the go using just a smartphone. Signing up is free, there are no monthly payments, just a transaction fee of 2.75% for each payment.
